Through dialysis care and occupational health activities, I have encountered not only the “physical hardship” but also the “emotional loneliness” and “sense of loss” experienced by many patients and working individuals. Exactly three years ago today, I lost my wife and my daughter lost her beloved mother. Both of us left behind were immersed in profound grief. My attempt to converse with my late wife using AI technology wasn't about clinging to the past. It was a process to “grieve fully, communicate, and find acceptance to move forward.” After appearing in the media, I received significant feedback that made me realize something anew. That is the fact that there is pain in the medical field that cannot be healed by medicine or surgery alone.
At Shiratori Medical Centre Clinic and Reeg Research Institute, which is engaged in occupational health activities, we aim to provide medical care that supports the quality of life (QOL) of our patients and their families, valuing not only the provision of the latest medical technology (dialysis, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, regenerative medicine), but also the perspective of “mental care and grief care utilizing technology.”
